Cradle to Cradle® in the Built Environment
The book is the most comprehensive publication on Cradle to Cradle-inspired buildings so far, and it is richly illustrated with explanatory drawings and photos. It is written in cooporation between GXN and Vugge til Vugge Denmark.
Cradle to Cradle is well known internationally and has lately evoked interest among many actors in the Danish building industry. Yet for many, it has proven hard to use this philosophical framework in practice.
This publication is the result of more than two years of work and collaboration with more than 50 Danish specialists together with the founders of Cradle to Cradle, William McDonough and Michael Braungart.
’The philosophy behind Cradle to Cradle is revolutionary in all its simplicity. However, many of the actors in the building industry require guidelines and examples of solutions. Our goal has been to translate the philosophical starting point to an operational manual with actual examples of strategies and tools that relate to the phases of construction.’
Kasper Guldager Jensen, Director GXN partner 3XN
The manual distinguishes itself from certifications such as DGNB, LEED and BREEAM by not being a certification with checklists and set numbers, but instead an open platform for innovation and new business models, wherein the ambition is to return the planet’s resources to the full life cycle.
The manual is written in Danish and can be purchased at The Danish Architectural Press or downloaded as an open source document at Issuu, where it already has been downloaded more than 25.000 times.
